Patient recovers £400,000 for Medical Negligence

The patient suffered permanent and lifelong injuries at a Northern Ireland hospital after being left unsupervised despite a specific medical requirement for close and regular observation. During the course of the proceedings, the Defendant Trust admitted that there should have been closer observation, taking into account all of the relevant risk factors as well as the patient’s medical history and vulnerabilities.

The case required input from a team of independent medical experts, based in England and Northern Ireland, who commented on the nature and extent of injuries sustained, which were deemed by the experts to be lifelong.

Following successful negotiations, O’Reilly Stewart were pleased to secure pre-trial settlement and an award of damages in the sum of £400,000 in favour of our client who also recovered their full costs arising from the investigation of their case.

Joe Moore assisted by Dearbhla O’Hanlon brought this case to a conclusion for our client.
