Leading law firm O’Reilly Stewart solicitors has announced that it will be supporting Dementia NI as its new charity partner throughout 2024.
Dementia NI was chosen following nominations from staff, with a commitment to fundraise throughout the year to support the charity as it works to raise awareness for people living with dementia to get positive change.
The team at O’Reilly Stewart have already begun their fundraising journey which will go towards helping Dementia NI roll out its scheme in conjunction with the PSNI which helps to save valuable time when a person with dementia goes missing.
Herbert Protocol gathers information about the person with dementia though a simple form that can be filled out by the person with dementia or their family, friends or carers. If the person would ever go missing, this form would be given to the police so they could use it in their search to find the person and cut down on valuable time.
Speaking about the new partnership O’Reilly Stewart Director Joe Moore said, “The team are committed to having a positive impact on our local communities and each year staff nominate a charity that is close to their hearts. As a local charity Dementia NI is promoting the rights of those living with dementia to be involved in the decisions that will affect their daily lives and is an area that many of the staff feel extremely passionate about. We are looking forward to working together to not only fundraiser but raise awareness of the charity and the great work that it does.”
Fundraising plans throughout the year will include an Easter Egg painting competition, a half marathon and 10k fun run and a number of internal bake offs and hamper raffles.
Commenting Karen Kerr, Head of Fundraising at Dementia NI said, “We are delighted to be partnering with O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors and looking forward to working with them on the many varied and creative fundraising activities we are planning throughout the year. This partnership will make a real difference to the lives of local people who depend on our services as we work to challenge the stigma of dementia and empower people to live well with their diagnosis and support others who experience the same symptoms.”
