Update for Patient Recall Delayed

27 June 2019

O’Reilly Stewart are currently acting for a significant number of patients affected by the recent neurology patient recall in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust concerning patients treated by Dr Michael Watt, Consultant Neurologist. The Department of Health has now confirmed that a planned update regarding the progress of the recall has been delayed due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’. It is not clear what these unforeseen circumstances are.

The Trust initially recalled 2,500 patients, and followed this up with a further recall of another 1,000 patients. There are therefore large numbers of patients affected by the recall. While the majority will not have been adversely affected, many have been advised that they have been misdiagnosed and have been prescribed inappropriate medication, often for many years. We are acting for a number of these patients to seek compensation for the damage that they have suffered. If you or a family member has been affected and have not yet sought legal advice, please contact our Healthcare Team and we will be happy to take further details.

You can learn more about the delayed update here.
