Public Inquiry into Southern Trust Urology Consultant

9 March 2021

Christine Smith, Q.C.  has been appointed to Chair the Public Inquiry investigating the practice of Consultant Urologist Aidan O’Brien, now retired, during his employment by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.

We have received instructions by families of patients who have been directly affected following these allegations and understand the Inquiry will investigate the care of prostate cancer patients who were under the care of  Aiden O’Brien, consultant urologist at Craigavon Area hospital. Thousands of patients records have been reviewed and over 270 patients have been contacted. To date 9 cases have been investigated as Serious Adverse Incidents.

O’Reilly Stewart Healthcare Solicitors act regularly on behalf of victims of negligence in medical care and are also actively involved in multiple cases following the Trust’s recall of Dr Watt’s patients which was also upgraded recently to a Public Inquiry.
