O’Reilly Stewart were instructed by Ms X, following receipt of notification that her employer and her regulatory authority, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), had instigated disciplinary proceedings against her as a result of her negligent actions outside of work.
As a nurse, there is an on-going obligation to uphold the professional nursing standards inside and outside of work. Ms X found herself subject to criminal proceedings which were contrary to the standards required by the NMC.
O’Reilly Stewart assisted Ms X in drafting her submissions for the disciplinary hearings and represented Ms X at the NMC Hearing achieving a reduction in the sanction as recommended by the NMC.
