Cyclist obtains settlement of £20,000

O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors recently acted on behalf of a cyclist who sustained serious injury from a fall caused by a road being in a state of disrepair.

Our client, an experienced cyclist, instructed O’Reilly Stewart to investigate the case suffering an accident on the road caused by the poor road surface. We instructed a consulting engineer who attended the accident locus and prepared a report detailing the extent of the defect present on the road, which was sufficient to cause our client to be thrown off his bike.

The Defendant, who had responsibility for the repair and maintenance of the road, sought negotiations in the case. After obtaining the appropriate medical evidence, we entered into negotiations and the case was settled for £20,000 without admission of liability.

O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors continue to demonstrate expertise in dealing with cycling claims. Our client had the following words to say following resolution of his case:

“After the accident I enquired about appointing a solicitor and O’Reilly Stewart where an obvious choice for me as they are a sponsor of Cycling Ulster and therefore have expert knowledge in cycling related claims. From the outset Kevin and his staff made the process very straightforward and kept me constantly informed as to what stage the claim process was at. They efficiently arranged all the paperwork and consultant appointments etc that where required and I am very pleased with the Settlement. I would highly recommend O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors to anyone who feels that may need to pursue liability after an accident.”
