O’Reilly Stewart were instructed to investigate injuries sustained by our client following a slipping accident in the SSE Arena, Belfast in October 2017. Dionne Darragh acted in this case.
Our client was attending an event and slipped and fell when exiting the toilets. The accident was reported immediately, and a Paramedic assessed our client at the scene. Liability was accepted following pre-proceeding negotiations, however High Court proceedings were issued to progress the claim, as the extent of our client’s injuries were disputed.
Our client sustained a nasty injury to her right wrist. She is right hand dominant. She had to undergo fixation under general anaesthetic and was left with a significant scar.
We obtained medical evidence from a Consultant Hand Surgeon, Consultant Radiologist and Consultant Plastic Surgeon. Concern was raised regarding our client’s protracted recovery. The matter was placed on hold for a short time, to allow further investigations.
We entered pre-Hearing negotiations and facilitated viewing of the scarring.
Negotiations were successful and the case settled in the sum of £40,000.
