Stuart Gilmore, Managing Director of O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors, recently recovered £200,000 damages on behalf of a vulnerable older person, who sustained significant injuries following an accident in 2022.
Our client was a pedestrian about to open the door of her car when another driver collided with the rear of her vehicle, consequently pushing the car forward. She was thrown to the ground and experienced immediate pain. Our client suffered from a laceration to her head, which left permanent scarring, while also fracturing her hip and injuring her back.
High Court proceedings were issued and an admission of liability was received from the Defendant.
Our client was examined by multiple medical experts, who concluded that while some degenerative change is to be expected with age, the accident contributed to the significant symptoms she was experiencing, particularly in her hip. They also determined that reduced mobility is a common consequence of such injuries. It was therefore considered unlikely that our client’s symptoms would ever fully resolve and there was a significant chance that she would require the use of a walking aid for the foreseeable future.
Our client’s claim primarily revolved around her injuries which had adverse impacts on her mobility and her permanent disfiguration. After exchanging medical evidence and engaging in discussions, her case settled for £200,000 together with our legal costs being paid separately.
This case demonstrates the important work the Litigation team at O’Reilly Stewart undertake to achieve the best possible results for our clients. If you have been involved in an accident or suffered from a personal injury do not hesitate to contact Stuart or any other member of the team.
