Stuart Gilmore, Managing Director of O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors, recently recovered £60,000 in damages on behalf of our client, Mr R, who sustained significant injuries following an accident in April 2019.
Our client was a pedestrian standing at the back of his car in a car park when another vehicle reversed into him at speed, crushing his lower body between the rear bumper of his car and the rear bumper of the Defendant’s car.
Mr R suffered severe soft tissue injuries to both knees in the form of medial collateral ligament spraining and significant subcutaneous tissue injuries. This led to large bruising, swelling, discomfort and limitation of movement. He further suffered a violent twist to his lumbar spine and pelvic areas and developed neurological symptoms such as sciatic pain in his hips and general numbness in his feet.
O’Reilly Stewart gathered independent medical evidence from a number of sources including consultant musculoskeletal radiologists, consultant neurosurgeons, consultant orthopaedic surgeons, consultant spinal surgeons and consultants in emergency medicine. This provided a foundation of information which allowed for an assessment of Mr R’s current and future losses as a result of this accident.
After providing this medical evidence and engaging in discussions with the Defendant’s Solicitors, a settlement of £60,000 in damages to our client was agreed between all parties prior to the hearing of this action at Court.
At O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors, our team strive to obtain the best outcome for our client, taking into consideration past, current and future losses and the impact these may give rise to in all aspects of life.
