Stuart Gilmore, Managing Director of O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors has attained a very significant settlement on behalf of his client.
Our client was the driver of a vehicle involved in a catastrophic collision with another car. Our client sustained severe injuries including significant soft tissue damage and Post-Concussion Syndrome. The distressing events of the accident also caused our client to suffer with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and depression. The injuries that our client sustained were life changing and had a serious impact on normal day-to-day activities. As a result of the accident, our client was forced to medically retire from work.
On behalf of our client, O’Reilly Stewart obtained Independent Medical Evidence from a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, Consultant Neurosurgeon, Consultant ENT Surgeon, Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist, Occupational Psychologist and Pain Clinic Consultant. This evidence allowed O’Reilly Stewart to assess the level of injury our client endured. Expert evidence was also obtained from an Occupational Therapist, Care Expert, and a Forensic Accountant, who dealt with the client’s substantial economic loss.
Proceedings were issued in this case in the High Court of Northern Ireland and the matter was listed for a lengthy hearing. In the week prior to trial, however, our team including Senior and Junior Counsel, were able to negotiate a very satisfactory settlement for our client.
