We believe it\u2019s essential for our clients to understand these changes and their potential impact.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Changes to SDLT from the 1<sup>st<\/sup> April 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The stamp duty tax \u201cHoliday\u201d is coming to an end and there will be a return to Lower Tax-Free Thresholds on all property purchases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The standard residential SDLT nil-rate band will drop from \u00a3250,000 to \u00a3125,000, meaning buyers will pay tax on properties over \u00a3125,000.00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>First-time buyers will see their nil-rate band reduced from \u00a3425,000 to \u00a3300,000. Therefore, if you are a First Time Buyer- you will pay tax on any property over \u00a3300,000.00.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Additionally, the maximum property value eligible for first-time buyer relief will fall from \u00a3625,000 to \u00a3500,000. This means that any property worth over \u00a3500,000.00 will be subject to the same stamp duty rates for first time buyers as second-time buyers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Impact: All Buyers across the board will face higher tax liabilities on their purchases.
